After the closure of their principle wallpaper and fabric printer, Maxine and Paula have taken the difficult decision
to scale back Blackpop and close their Derbyshire Showroom. Going forward they will be working
on a 'project by project' basis with a handful of clients.

What began as a midlife gamble for Maxine, quickly established itself as one of the most inventive
and standout brands in the interiors industry. Charged with a passion to create designs that were
dramatically daring and offered something so uniquely different, Blackpop was born.

With her photography and film background and an early career in reprographics,
Maxine chose to create collections that were heavily influenced by the arts, designs that had a cultural gravitas
and a unique design DNA -  'punking up the rich tapestry of the past'. As one of the first in the industry to work with
emerging digital print technologies, wallpapers were quickly followed by fabrics and Blackpop carved out its own niche,
breathing colour and energy, into what at the time, was a sea of beige!
